Hello love, I have tucked things behind cushions and under beds that no retreat guest will ever find. Written intentions for women I hadn't met yet, then burned the papers before they arrived. They'll never know what I invoked for them. (No one will ever know...) Because, even when nobody knows what the fuck I'm doing, I do it anyway. It's my little treasure chest of rituals ~ the things that make the spaces I hold feel infused with magic; because they are infused with magic. When I built The Forge, I got to name some of these rituals out loud for the first time ~ things I'd done so many times across 59 retreats that I'd forgotten I was even doing them. They all serve one law: The container is everything. "Container." A container is the physical room, yes... But it's also the energetic field. The emotional boundaries. The agreements, both spoken and unspoken. It is the intention poured into it all before the first woman ever walks through the door, drops her bags (and baggage) and says with a smile, "I'm here! You're here! This is actually happening!" And I watch retreat leaders build that container with real devotion... and then accidentally break it on the last morning of their retreat. The clipboard comes out. Or they'll hold a closing "workshop" that is actually a sales pitch, and every woman in the room feels the floor tilt. Or they'll sneak away after breakfast, leaving their guests to load up into the shuttle on their own, avoiding the awkward goodbye, but also leaving the container wide open, gaping, and unfinished. But, it doesn't have to be complicated. You listen, deeply. That night, alone in your room, you voice-note yourself: what I heard, who said it, what it tells me about what she needs next. Or you jot a quick note down as each woman goes around the circle and shares her reflections on the experience you just led her through. She gets the containment of a closing circle. You get the testimonial drafted and insight into her ongoing journey. Nothing breaks. The floor doesn't tilt. She feels held. And you know exactly where you want to take her next. If my retreats and offerings feel magical, it's because they ARE.
